Recently, Nicholas Rimmer has been invited by WDR 3 Tonart to answer questions from the well-known and very popular "Fragenkoffer" ("Question Box"). In this program, musicians have to answer questions that have been taken out of a box by coincidence - the conversations developed out of this procedure are always very funny and cover lots of different topics. Nicholas Rimmer spoke, among others things, about his favourite drinks, breakdowns in the concert business and books he is currently reading.
I'm very excited about the release of this CD with my trio colleague Jonian Ilias Kadesha. He chose amazing pieces for his debut CD - all united by the influence of folk music. If you don't yet know Enescu's 3rd sonata you must hear it - for me it's without question one of the greatest violin sonatas of the 20th century.
This is a brilliant CD on which I feature only in two works. Kilian Herold, a friend and now Professor of clarinet in Freiburg unearthed these fascinating pieces by Mátyás Seiber which are all worth a listen.
You can hear Nicholas talking about his favourite pieces this Saturday (March 05) at 10.30 am, at the radio broadcast "Treffpunkt Klassik extra"on SWR2.
